KotoriCon, Gloucester County College’s Anime Convention is sponsored by the College’s Japanese Anime and Gaming Club as a fundraiser for charity.They will hold a game tournament on Friday evening and then the full con on Saturday. They are getting great guests including the L33tStr33t Boys performing and comedians Uncle Joe and Cosplay Joe. To extend the appeal, they are adding a Steampunk theme this year. There will be anime with Steampunk elements, and open an invitation to all those who want to dress in SteamPunk attire. The first KotoriCon was held January 2010 where 260 fans enjoyed video games, Japanese language lessons. and Sumi painting lessons, watching anime, playing with the PA Jedi, a great show from the J-rock band [geist], dancing and more.....They were entertained by over 35 guests and vendors, and hosted by over 45 volunteers.In 2010 The Japanese Anime and Gaming Club donated $500 to F.A.C.E.S. to help local families with autistic children, and $500 to Doctors Without Borders... to help Haiti. They also sponsored members of Robin’s Nest to attend. The Game Tournament held in May also raised $250 donated to Child’s Play charity. Anime DVDs and manga were donated to the GCC library to start a related collection.
