MidSouthCon is the Mid-South’s premier science fiction convention held annually in Memphis TN. It covers a diverse section of fanish culture that includes Science Fiction, Fantasy, Science, Comics, Horror, Education, Costuming, Anime, and Gaming. MSC has 70+ authors, editors, publishers, scientists, artists and other guests, with an annual attendance of approximately 1200 people. The IAFA is a scholarly organization devoted to the study of the fantastic (broadly defined) as it appears in literature, film, and the other arts. The purpose of the organization is to promote and recognize achievement in the study of the fantastic, mainly through the organization and management of an annual academic conference, the International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts (ICFA). There are two publications connected to the IAFA: the Journal of the Fantastic in the Arts, which is a peer-reviewed journal for scholarship within the field of the fantastic, and the newsletter, which publishes information relevant to the IAFA membership.

Historical Miniatures Gaming’s Biggest Summer Vacation! As it does every year, HISTORICON presents: the world’s largest hobby shop, plus the world’s biggest hobby flea market, for four days every July. Both offer a gigantic selection of military miniatures, rules, books and anything else needed for the historical miniature gaming hobby. HISTORICON is the historical miniatures gaming convention in the United States. Each year, thousands of avid gamers descend on historic Valley Forge, Pennsylvania for what the New York Times has described as the “mother of all wargaming conventions.” There will be hundreds and hundreds of games, the world’s biggest wargame hobby shop, painting events and much, much more. HMGS War College (formerly the Military Seminar Series): This year we have another grand battery of speakers and seminars, with topics ranging throughout history, and quite a number of theme-related. The Mythopoeic Society’s annual conference is usually held at a college or university campus setting in late July or early August. Each conference is constructed around a theme related to Inklings studies and/or fantastic and mythic literature. Each conference also features an author and a scholar guest of honor.
