UltimaCon is an Anime, Gaming and LARPing Convention that seeks to cater to a variety of interests such as Japanese culture and animation, video gaming, tabletop miniatures and collectible card gaming, Live-Action-Roleplaying, and other intertwining interests. We are a group run by extremely dedicated, talented, innovative and capable volunteers seeking to provide a multitude of exhibitions, events, interactive panels, discussion and educational panels, and guests to the fans of these interests. We will continue to strive to provide the best convention experience possible. We plan to feature such events as cosplay (costume + play) contests consisting of skits and walk-ons, a live concert from one or more bands, two different styled dances along with a formal ballroom dance, exhibition/dealer’s room, artist alley, charity auctions, AMV showings, fashion show as well as audience interactive events such as Anime Dating Game, Anime Idol, an Improv show, Anime Game Show, Karaoke, various tabletop and video gaming tournaments, and many LARPing events. We will be offering a wide variety of fan-ran panels ranging anywhere from cosplay workshops to fandom based panels to industry and art related themes. In addition to these specific events, UltimaCon will have rooms open all weekend for such actives as table top gaming, arcade gaming, console gaming and LARPing. While we are offering a wide variety of entertainment, we also hope to promote an understanding and education for Japanese culture and foreign cultures in general while providing a safe atmosphere for social networking along with encouraging attendees to participate and excel in various arts and crafts such as textiles, theatre, material carving, drawing and painting, dancing, and music just to name a few.

It’s just about game time! TooManyGames is only a few short weeks away! Are you ready? This year’s TooManyGames is June 15th-17th at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. We’re packing their largest hall with games! Video games, board games, arcade games, card games, and more will line the floor! Score some rare games to fill gaps in your collection, or pick up some of the awesome artwork to adorn your house with in our marketplace! Play brand new unreleased games in the Indie Game Showcase! Show off your video game chops in tournaments all throughout the weekend, including Soul Calibur 5, Street Fighter X Tekken, Halo Reach, Call of Duty, Pong, and more! Are tabletop games more your speed? We’ll be running Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh! tournaments over the weekend, plus we’ve expanded our board gaming area! We’ll be demonstrating some of board gaming’s most popular games throughout the weekend, including Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, Dominion, Puerto Rico, and more! When you get tired of walking around the show, make sure to stop in and check out some of our panels. Two of gaming’s biggest internet celebrities, The Angry Video Game Nerd and Darksyde Phil will be screening new videos and hosting Q&A session. If you’re ready to rock then you need to check out all the concerts going on throughout the weekend! We have Temp Sound Solutions, Pixel8ter, Inverse Phase, Chipocrite, X-Hunters, Those Who Fight, Autoscroll, and more playing throughout the weekend! Ascendio is, at heart, an academic conference, meaning two of the days will feature a Formal Programming schedule of presentations, panels, workshops and roundtables. All of Ascendio’s content is by the fans, for the fans, though many of our presenters are academics, media personalities and fandom celebrities. The formal programming schedule runs the gamut, from academic discussions of Harry Potter’s Christian themes, to roundtable discussions of HP couples (or ’ships!), to workshops where you can learn to knit a House scarf or steampunk your wand. Ascendio will play host to a number of fun events, including: Steampunk Witches & Wizards Quidditch featuring the International Quidditch Association A musical revue & variety show (featuring music that has been inspired by HP throughout the years, include some WizardRock and tunes from the movies) A fashion show, where costumers can show off their threads Fan meet-ups of every kind, from shippers to doll enthusiasts! Fanfiction readings Author readings and signings Not only that, but at Ascendio we like to give an extra Harry Potter touch to things. We’ll be having a Welcome Feast and Leaving Feast (Floating candles not included!), as well as a Wizard ball! But there’s more! Ascendio will also feature a vendor room, packed full of Harry Potter merchandise, an Art Gallery, with not only fan art but official prints from the U.S. illustrated versions, a decked-out Common Room, and even a Craft Faire for fan crafters to sell their wares.
